Want to Become a Certified Volume Eyelash Extensions Tech? How You Can Do It Online

Volume eyelash extensions have gained immense popularity in recent years, transforming the beauty industry into a go-to service for those who desire fuller, longer lashes. As a result, the demand for certified eyelash extension technicians has skyrocketed. If you're passionate about beauty and want to become an accredited volume eyelash extensions tech, you'll be delighted to know you can achieve this goal online. In this blog post, we will explore the process of becoming a certified volume eyelash extensions tech through online training and the benefits it offers.

The Importance of Certification

Before we delve into the online training, let's discuss why an eyelash extension course and certification is crucial for aspiring volume eyelash extension technicians. Certification establishes your credibility and professionalism and ensures that you possess the necessary skills and knowledge to provide safe and quality services. Clients are more likely to trust certified technicians, which can lead to a flourishing career and increased opportunities.

Online Training: Convenience at Your Fingertips:

Thanks to technological advancements, it's now possible to pursue a variety of professional eyelash extension courses online, including volume eyelash extensions training. Online training provides numerous advantages, making it an appealing option for flexibility and convenience.

Benefit 1: An Online Volume Eyelash Extensions Course, Offers a More Comprehensive Curriculum

While you may instinctively think that in-person training is better, consider this: in an in-person volume eyelash extension course, you get about six-eight hours of comprehensive training in a day. Much of the time is spent on practicals, leaving little time for advanced creative styling, hygiene and safety, adhesive theory, and business and marketing. An online course such as our Volume & Hybrid Eyelash Extensions Course is longer at 14 hours long, containing four practical submissions that cover fan making, fan attachment, hybrid lashes, and a live model submission. It also boasts four hours of comprehensive theory on volume eyelash extensions and marketing and business mini-courses.

We’re able to give more extensive training in an online format as there are no time restrictions like in a classroom setting. You’ll also practice your skills more with the online course and still get instructor feedback on your work!

Benefit 2: Flexibility When Learning About Our Volume Eyelash Extensions

Online training allows you to learn at your own pace and schedule. You can access eyelash extension course materials whenever convenient, making it ideal for individuals with other commitments or those who prefer a self-paced learning experience.

Benefit 3: Access to Experienced Instructors

Contrary to common misconceptions, online training doesn't mean you're left on your own. Accredited institutions like ours provide access to experienced instructors who can offer guidance, feedback, and support throughout your learning journey and afterward. You can seek clarification, ask questions, send pictures and videos, and receive personalized advice to enhance your skills in volume eyelash extensions.

Benefit 4: Practical Demonstrations and Videos

Although a volume eyelash extension course requires hands-on practice, online courses typically include practical demonstrations and instructional videos for you to follow along with while you practice. Be cautious, though, as some online courses have poor-quality videos or angles that are too far away from the lashes to see what’s happening properly. You can request a preview of the videos from the training companies. If they don’t provide them, don’t enroll in that course. You can view a free preview of our Classic Eyelash Extensions course here. Quality video resources enable you to observe techniques, understand proper application methods, and gain insights into industry best practices.

Benefit 5: Certification and Recognition

Reputable online training programs like our volume eyelash extension course provide certification upon successful completion. This certification is valuable and recognized within the industry, validating your expertise and increasing your chances of securing employment or starting your own business. Always ask if the institution is accredited, though, as non-accredited courses or community-created courses like Udemy courses are typically not valid with most insurance agencies.

Choosing the Right Online Training Program:

To ensure a successful and fulfilling learning experience, choosing the right online eyelash extension course is necessary. Consider the following factors before deciding:

Accreditation:

Opt for an eyelash extension course accredited by recognized beauty industry associations or regulatory bodies. Accreditation ensures that the training meets industry standards and quality requirements. International Beauty Institute is registered with and accredited by:

Course Content and Duration

Evaluate the volume eyelash extension course content to ensure it covers all the necessary topics in detail. Additionally, consider the duration of the volume eyelash extensions course and whether it aligns with your learning preferences and commitments. If a free preview of the course is not available, request one. If the school does not provide one, avoid that course. It’s common for schools not to issue refunds on their courses, so make sure the course content is high quality, and the video demonstrations are clear and close up before enrolling.

Reviews and Reputation

Read reviews and testimonials from previous students to gauge the eyelash extension course’s reputation and the experiences of others who have completed the training. When writing this article, the International Beauty Institute boasts over 600 reviews between all campuses and online courses.

How Do I Become a Certified Eyelash Tech?

STEP 1: Research Your Regulations

The first step is to research your state or province’s regulations. In Canada, except for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, all you need to do is take a certificate course, and you will be allowed to do volume eyelash extensions.

In the USA, it’s a little trickier. About six states have no regulations for eyelash extensions, so just a certificate will be enough to perform the service. However, in most states, there is a requirement also to be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist, and some states like Connecticut have a specialty eyelash technician license.

If your state or province is one of the ones that require you to be licensed as an esthetician or cosmetologist, an online eyelash extension course alone will not grant you that license.

Regulations can change, so you can check your local licensing department.

That being said, many of our students operating out of their homes choose to take a volume eyelash course without going through the other regional licensing steps. They can still get insurance if they choose, as we are an accredited institution.

STEP 2: Research and Enroll in a Reputable Course

The next step is researching reputable volume eyelash extensions courses. Look at reviews, ask for free previews of the courses, look for additional business resources provided, and ask if the institution is accredited.

You can typically enroll online by adding a course to your cart and checking out. Most schools will provide the login link immediately or shortly after registering.

STEP 3: Fulfill the Course Requirements

In the eyelash extension course, you’ll (ideally) be working on a series of submission photos to prove your competency. While learning about volume eyelash extensions, you will first practice fanning techniques and submit 10 handmade fans for approval. Next you’ll practice attaching fans to practice lashes using a “wrapping” technique and submit that work for approval. Third, you’ll work on a hybrid eyelash extension set on practice lashes. Lastly, you’ll perform a volume eyelash extensions set on a live model and submit that for your final submission. Throughout the course, quizzes test your knowledge on things like adhesive theory, hygiene, and fan weight calculations.

STEP 4: Receive Your Certificate

Once you complete the volume eyelash extensions course and fulfill the requirements, you’ll have earned your certificate and will become a certified lash tech. You can use your certificate to obtain insurance, hang it on your wall to showcase your professionalism to clients and register with beauty supply stores.

Do I Need a License to Do Lash Extensions?

Sometimes yes and sometimes no. There are many regions where a license is not required as volume eyelash extension services are not regulated; in this case, you will just need a certificate.

In many states and two Canadian provinces like Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, you must also be a licensed esthetician or cosmetologist to perform eyelash extensions or hold a specialty eyelash technician license where applicable. More on regional licensing later in this article.

If your state is one of the ones that require you to be licensed as an esthetician or cosmetologist, an eyelash extension course alone will not grant you that license.

That being said, many of our students operating out of their homes choose to take a volume eyelash extensions certificate course without going through the other regional licensing steps. They are still able to get insurance if they choose.

If you need help navigating your region’s regulations, contact us, and we’ll be happy to help.

Do You Need an Esthetician License to Do Eyelash Extensions?

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. In most provinces in Canada, except for Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, you do not need a license for volume eyelash extensions. You do not need a license in states like Delaware, Maryland, Alabama, Mississippi, Wisconsin, and Missouri. In a select few states like Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Minnesota, Texas, and Connecticut, they have specialty eyelash technician licenses or permits, and you can bypass the esthetician and cosmetologist licenses. In most states, however, an esthetician or cosmetologist license and an eyelash extension certificate, are required.
